Over the weekend the UFC – and by extension, the cover of UFC’s video game- had a couple of surprising defeats. Conor McGregor failed to back up his trash talk as he was defeated via choke hold by Nate Diaz at UFC 196.
Holly Holm‘s victory lap was short lived. After pulling the upset last summer over Ronda Rousey, Holm lost to Miesha Tate. The 18-5 Tate choked out Holly Holm to win her first UFC championship belt, and indirectly killed the hype of a Holm vs Rousey rematch. Tate caused Holm to lose consciousness.
“I thought I had to be like a pit bull on a bone, I coudn’t let go.’’
Now back to this cover. Maybe it’s cursed. Rhonda Rousey was announced as the lead cover athlete a couple of days before she was knocked out by Holly Holm. The trailer for the game dropped on Saturday, the day of McGregor’s fight against Nate Diaz.
