Actress Jennette McCurdy admits she was never interested in Pistons Andre Drummond

Remember last summer when Pistons big man Andre Drummond pursued actress Jennette McCurdy on Instagram and Twitter? Jennette recently appeared on Pete Holmes’ podcast, “You made it weird,” apparently that relationship was like many people’s lives on social media, just for Instgram likes. Jennette admits that she wasn’t feeling Andre from the jump,  ditched him after a couple of weeks, using family issues as a way out.. Yeah.

Let me give you a few highlights:

  • She said it only lasted like a week.
  • She wasn’t attracted to him but his repeated “Woman Crush Wednesday” posts wore her down. Plus, she was in Vegas and in a good mood.
  • She wasn’t feeling him from their first text conversation. He sent his number in DM as soon as she followed him on Twitter and she thought that was a bit much. The chemistry wasn’t there, but she decided to go with it for kicks and giggles.
  • He’d call her on FaceTime out the blue and be getting a massage or shopping, other random things. Which was another turnoff for her.
  • Her friends thought it was weird that she went out with him cause he wasn’t her type at all. She invited all her friends on the date so it wouldn’t be awkward – I’m not mad at this move.
  • Kissing him was weird – yeah if you don’t like someone, kissing them is going to be uncomfortable.
  • She was ready to break up with him after their first date, but felt bad… again, because he’d flown out to LA just to see her. So she went on more dates. He was in LA for 7 days, she saw him 5 out of the 7.
  • He started buying her things right away, first he sent her gear, like Adidas stuff. At one point, he told her he was going out to the store to buy something. When he returned, he had a necklace, dropped down on his knees and asked her to be his girlfriend… She wanted to say NO, but she felt bad. – But, she didn’t say she turned down the jewelry.
  • She broke up with him because she needed to deal with her family issues.

If you want to listen to Jennette’s interview where she basically shaded the hell out of Andre, fast forward to 20:24

Andre also had a recent interview with ESPN the magazine, where the topic was social media. Naturally his date with the Nickleodeon actress came up. His response was a little more middle of the road and not as biting.:

The Mag: You gave us a romance for these modern times, using social media to garner the affection of iCarly actress Jennette McCurdy. What spurred you to pursue her?

Drummond:
It started as a joke with a childhood friend — iCarly was our show, and my friend and I had a thing for Jennette and Miranda Cosgrove. We’d joke about it on Twitter, and Jennette caught wind of it. Turned out she was interested enough to talk to me.

The Mag: It began with you expressing your #WomanCrushWednesday feelings for her. She later wrote in The Wall Street Journal that she found it “gutsy and flattering.” Very gutsy, dude. You weren’t worried about the ribbing?
Drummond:
Nah, man. I still have time to be a kid. But I didn’t actually think anything would come of it, to be honest.

The Mag: What effect did the relationship have on your social media following? I’d imagine you now hold the NBA record for most preteen female followers.
Drummond:
Yeah, a lot of kids follow me now. Not just kids my age, but younger kids, so I watch my movements [on social media].

The Mag: What’s your relationship status now?
Drummond:
Everything is cool. We’re focusing on work and still talking to each other.

The Mag: I wish ________ would follow me.
Drummond:
Hmm. Let me think about this one. [Pauses] Beyonce? Nah. [Another pause] I know: Meagan Good.

The Mag: Maybe you should hit Meagan up with a #WomanCrushWednesday request.
Drummond:
[Laughs] I might have to …

Moral to the story. The way you start out is the way you finish. So if you want the details kept private, keep your pursuits on the low.
