The Clippers officially introduced Doc Rivers as their new head coach on Wednesday. During his press conference Doc says he is in LA to win a championship, period. He believes the Clippers were the best team in the NBA for a portion of last season. His plan to get them to the top spot in the NBA includes, infusing the locker room with a “just win” attitude.

“The reason I wanted this when it was made available is because of what they have and not what they don’t have,” Rivers said. “I clearly think this is an extremely talented basketball team. There were times last year they were the best team.”

Doc said he’s excited to work with the roster and has already reached out to some of the players including, Chris Paul.

In mentioning his favorite things about returning to LA – Rivers spent a season with the Clippers in 92 on a team that had a great playoff run ended by the Utah Jazz. Doc touched on the sunshine, “going to work in 80 degree weather” and memories of his son being born at St. John’s hospital in Santa Monica, which is about 20 minutes away from where the Clippers call home at “The Staples Center.”

Sounds like Doc is already setting the tone and making the Clippers sound like the top destination in LA. Meanwhile, the Lakers are taking a page out of other franchises books and trying to make Dwight feel wanted by posting billboards and banners around LA asking Dwight Howard to “stay.”
