Just a few days after sisters Venus and Serena Williams participated in the draw for Toronto’s Roger’s Cup,Venus has had to withdraw from the tournament due to a viral illness. Venus was slated to play former number one Ana Ivanovic in the first round.
Maria Sharapova Is The Top Earning Female Athlete In The World

Maria Sharapova hasn’t won a Grand Slam title since 2008. She’s currently ranked 5th in the world but she’s the highest paid woman in sports according to Forbes magazine. In 2010 Sharapova raked in $25 million. The bulk of her earnings come via endorsement deals. Nike, Head, Evian, Clear Shampoo, Sony Ericsson, Tiffany and Tag Heuer are a few of the brands the tennis star is signed with. Venus and Serena Williams also made the top 10 showing up at numbers 4 and 6 respectively.
Sharpova also recently re-upped with Nike for an 8-year deal believed to be worth $70 million. Women’s tennis number one ranked player, Caroline Wozniacki is second on the list earning half of Sharapova’s 2010 take. Not bad for an “almost Basketball wife”

Venus and Serena Williams are back on the tennis court after a brief hiatus. The two are both participating in Wimbledon. Here’s your first look at the on-court ensemble rocked by Venus and some photos of Serena at a pre Wimbledon event. Dare I say both ladies need to step up their fashion selections. I’m not a fan of either look but I am excited that they’re back!

It’s been more than a year since we’ve seen Serena Williams on a tennis court. After injuring her right foot, two surgeries and a procedure to remove a blood clot from her lung, Serena is back and action and looking to get some practice in on the WTA tour in Eastbourne before Wimbledon.
