I consider myself a casual women’s soccer watcher. It’s not something I’d necessarily seek out but during the World Cup, it’s only right to check out at least one match. What started as casual became appointment TV watching the U.S. women attempt to return to champion status.
The Japan’s U.S. team would ultimately block that goal in a match that came down to a penalty shootout following an intense 2-2 draw. There were four crucial plays that set up the dramatic finish:
