It’s official, the new Brooklyn Nets logo has been revealed. People spend a lot of time mentioning the percentage of Jay-Z’s ownership but forget how big his stamp is over the marketing.

File this under stating the obvious. Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov says Kris Humpries has nothing to worry about in the Kanye West vs. The Hump dispute. Contrary to what Ye said in Theraflu (which is now named Way to Cold. ) Jay has no say so in player personnel.

Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov isn’t prepared to let Deron WIlliams go without a fight… literally. Speaking to media in front of the Barclays construction site, the Nets owner said that he’d crush Mark Cuban in a “kickboxing throw down” if he wins the services of Deron Williams in free agency this summer.
He was joking of course. But he did say that he had a conversation with Deron about his future goals:

Partial New Jersey Nets owner Jay Z might be a little busy “Watching the throne” but that doesn’t mean he’s not paying attention to what’s happening with the Nets. As a matter of fact, since new majority owner, Mikhail Prokhorov took over the team in 2010, Jay’s involvement in several key aspects of the franchise has grown.

I’m going to assume that Mikhail Prokhorov, owner of the New Jersey Nets was making a tasteless joke when he made that comment to celebrity stylist June Ambrose. I’m going to assume he somehow thought he was better acquainted with Ms. Ambrose that he could make a joke with her and she not get offended. I’ll assume he somehow was unaware of the history of lynchings that happened to African Americans here in the U.S. We do live in a state of uber sensitivity when even the smallest of jokes are taken out of context and blown out of proportion.That has to be it right?
