Day 137 of the NBA lockout and the NBA players union voted unanimously not to accept the NBA owners latest contract proposal. In attendance were superstars like Kobe Bryant and Carmelo Anthony, the league’s future in players like Russell Westbrook and Chris Paul plus players that are in the final years of their NBA career like Etan Thoma, Dahntay Jones, Jason Terry and more. The next for the Union is to disband and file an antitrust action against the NBA.

NBA Owners & Union To Meet Wednesday Afternoon, Do or Die… Again

Jill Today is said to be do or die for the NBA season. A meeting is scheduled at 1:00 between the union and the owners. The owners have said the last agreement terms they issued were take it or leave it. Yesterday, the palyers indicated that they’ll be leaving it.

Jill Both sides of this NBA lockout are begining to show signs of internal conflict. Now comes word via Fox Sports that at least seven NBA players they’ve talked to want to take the 50-50 split to a vote and get the season started before they start to feel those missing checks.
Derek Fisher Demands Retraction Of Article That Says He’s In Collusion With David Stern

Jill The timing of stories stating that Derek Fisher of being in David Stern’s pocket was interesting. It comes after the league quietly fined Micky Arison, owner of the Miami Heat for tweeting that there was a divide between NBA team owners. It also comes after negotiations were Stern implied Billy Hunter and the players are stonewalling further progress in the labor talks. But as for Fisher personally, he’s being accused of secretly negotiating with David Stern and pushing players to accept the 50-50 deal.

Talks have broken down again between the NBA and it’s union. This time, the players decided full disclosure was in order for their press conference. Union President, Derek Fisher to the press, “You’ve been lied to.”

Friday in Los Angeles, the NBA players Union held a 3 hour meeting at the Beverly Hills Hilton led by Union President, Derek Fisher and Executive Director, Billy Hunter. The meeting was to update players (approximately 30 plus in attendance) on the most recent labor meetings, apprise them of the plan moving forward and receive feedback.
Wizard’s player JaVale McGee left early but gave a brief statement to reporters outside the meeting.

For all the posturing and bravado on Friday about there being no meetings between the NBA and it’s Union before Commissioner David Stern canceled the first two weeks of the NBA season, you had to know that both sides simply wouldn’t let the start of the NBA season slip away that easily.
NBA Players Union President Derek Fisher Sends Letter To Players

Today in Las Vegas, there is a meeting for NBA players as well as an owner’s meeting in Dallas as a follow up to the negotiating session the two sides held in New York on Tuesday.
As President of the players union, it is Derek Fisher’s job to ensure that all of the 400 plus players that make up the NBA have a clear understanding of what is taking place in those meetings. Derek sent a letter to the players (which he knew would be leaked) to not only enlighten them on what happened in those sessions but to also encourage them to stand together as several high profile agents have been pushing for decertification.
