Remember back in ’98 when Da Brat was one of the hottest rappers on the scene? Back then, there was a period of time when she and Allen Iverson used to “hang out” – some thought they were “boys” others said it was a friends with benefits situation, who knows.
Well it’s 2011 now, she’s out of jail, A.I. is out of the league so why not hang out at the studio with Jermaine Dupri like it’s ’98 all over again and watch as they record their own version of Chris Brown’s “Look at me now”

After having a farewell send off in Atlanta hosted by actress Megan Goode and missing a flight last Friday. Allen Iverson has finally arrived in Istanbul to begin his time with Team Besiktas. I say “time” because it looks like he’s being taken into custody here plus, let’s be real, AI taking his talents to Turkey is strictly about $$ not for the love of the game. And of course we know his ultimate goal is to end up back in the states. Did they make him wear that jersey straight off the plane?

Allen Iverson was once my favorite NBA player. In early 2009 I discussed the need for him to develop an “exit strategy” as the writing was on the wall. He didn’t and now we’re here. Watching Iverson, arguably one of the best little men to have played the game, take his talents to Turkey to play in a 2nd tier league is sad. But, count me as one of the few that don’t feel sorry for him. Here’s A.I. being introduced as a member of Besiktas and explaining why he’s headed overseas:

No Crossover: The trial of Allen Iverson aired last night on ESPN. It’s no secret that AI is one of the reasons my love for basketball flourished. His story has been chronicled several times however, this particular story reminded me how deeply entrenched racism still is in our society. The same traits that made AI one of the game’s best can be linked to the raw emotions that divided “Bad News” during the trial. I’m a huge fan of the 30 for 30 series. Quality original programming. February 26th, 2010 Jill ESPN’s 30 for 30 series is one of my favorites. AI was the reason why I started watching college basketball. I even had a Georgetown starter jacket (look it was a quick moment in time and I was still fashionable with it). Allen has an incredible LIFE story, the documentary will focus on 1 aspect; his 1993 arrest stemming from a racially motivated fight at a local bowling alley and the trial that followed. All this happened while he was still in High school. Directed by Hampton native Steve James (who also happens to be the man behind the classic Basketball documentary Hoop Dreams), The Trial of Allen Iverson premiers April 13th on ESPN.
“On Valentine’s Day 1993, 17-year-old Bethel High School basketball star Allen Iverson was bowling in Hampton, Va., with five high school friends. It was supposed to be an ordinary evening, but it became a night that defined Iverson’s young life. A quarrel soon erupted into a brawl pitting Iverson’s young black friends against a group of white patrons. The fallout from the fight and the handling of the subsequent trial landed the teenager—considered by some the nation’s best high school athlete—in jail and sharply divided the city along racial lines. Oscar nominee Steve James (“Hoop Dreams”) returns to his hometown of Hampton, where he once played basketball, to take a personal look at this still-disputed incident and examine its impact on Iverson and the shared community. ”
