Dallas Cowboys vs. Green Bay Packers Highest Rated Playoffs Game Ever

Anyone who believes that live sports aren’t still the king of TV ratings isn’t being realistic. Sunday’s playoff match up between the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys did record numbers.

All season long we’ve been discussing the decline of NFL ratings – product oversaturation plus weak match-ups in the primetime games – but that didn’t drive viewers away from the playoffs over the weekend. Fox was the big winner with an average 48.5 million viewers and a peak of 62.4 million watching the game. Those numbers made it the most-watched telecast since the Super Bowl and the most-watched NFL playoff game of all time.

It also topped the numbers for the historic Game 7 World Series match between the Chicago Cubs vs. Cleveland Indians last fall. Now the only question, will the magic continue now that the Cowboys have been bounced out. Super Bowl ticket prices have dipped.
