Lakers Have Team Bonding Moment At Cryotherapy Cold Therapy Clinic

The Lakers lost Monday night in Sacramento. It was sad, but I digress, prior to the game, the team decided to take a quick team bonding trip to a Sacramento-area cryotherapy clinic to experience intense cold therapy. Cold tub therapy is all the rage in sports so of course the Lake show had to go one better.

Lakers players were split into groups of four and placed in a room that was approximately 60 degrees below Fahrenheit for one minute. Once their bodies got used to the cold climate, the players walked into an adjacent room where temperature was approximately 200 degrees below zero, where they were kept for three minutes before being released.

The purpose behind the visit was to help stave off fatigue as the team opens with back-to-back-to-back games. Next up is the Jazz at home tonight, one day off and the Knicks come to town on Thursday. I don’t know if secret trips to “Skynet” will help the Lakers issues- That’s a Terminator reference, get ALL THE WAY into it.

How much do you want to bet that this was Kobe Bryant’s idea? ::giggle:: Luke Walton said he got a lot of the experience.

“By the end of those three minutes, you’re begging for that guy to give you the nod like, ‘OK, your time’s up, I’ve heard about this thing just from researching it with stuff for my back and wanted to do it, so I had volunteered to do it either way. So I was going to go no matter what and they kind of made the whole team go.”

“When I woke up (Monday) morning my back was pretty sore and it’s been feeling good lately so I was kind of bummed that I wasn’t going to be able to see if it was really working or not, but my back feels great right now,” Walton said before the game. “It definitely works.”

That’s a bright spot right? I mean I saw Luke get on the court last night and have a few meaningful seconds… Yikes. It’s going to be a long season. Bynum is back in 2 more games.
