Royce White leaves D League team; returning to Houston but not to the Rockets

Rockets-Royce-White

Royce White has left his D League team, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, and has returned to Houston. White however, won’t be rejoinging the Houston Rockets although he has indicated that he will be working out. As per White’s preferred method of communication, White posted a message on Twitter.

What does this mean for White’s future with the Rockets? I’m unsure. Clearly the two haven’t uncovered an amicable medium about how to best move forward in the treatment and maintenance of White’s anxiety issues. But has Houston done enough? I feel they have. The reality is part of the job description involved for an NBA career is travel. That’s clear going in. How far were the Rockets executives supposed to bend for unproven talent. Especially when things seem to be gelling nicely with the team they’ve put together this season. Royce indicates he’s training for next season but, if the Rockets aren’t apart of that process, and the point is to get acclimated for next season. How does that work? If it’s for another team, won’t there still be an adjustment period where he possibly won’t be available?

Would be interesting to see how Royce’s Rocket teammates feel about this situation.
