Fierce Five: Best Plays in Baseball History

  1. Babe Ruth’s Called Shot

Though this may not be one of the most important plays in baseball history, it certainly is one of the greatest moments. Legend has it that after being heckled by Chicago fans, Ruth pointed to center field of Wrigley Stadium. After a pitch or two of repeating this practice, Ruth launched a home run into the area which he pointed. This historical moment took place during the 1932 World Series and is still one of the most historical, as well as disputed moments in baseball.

  1. Jackie Robinson’s Steal of Home

Stealing home in general is an impressive feat, but to do it in the 8th inning of a World Series game against the New York Yankees is legendary. Though Berra claimed that Robinson was out until the day he died, the fact remains that that was the greatest stolen base in the history of baseball.
