Ken Griffey Jr. And Mike Piazza Elected To Baseball’s Hall Of Fame

On Wednesday Ken Griffey Jr. and Mike Piazza were elected to  baseball’s Hall of Fame. Griffey received the highest voting percentage ever, 99.3% with 437 votes out of 440. Griff was the highest draft pick ever elected – he went first – and Piazza the lowest ever.

On the honor Griffey said:

“I can’t be upset. It’s just an honor to be elected and to have the highest percentage is definitely a shock,” Griffey said on a conference call.

Last year, Piazza missed being voted in by 28 votes. This year he received 365 votes on his fourth time on the ballot. The two  will be inducted on July 24.

“Incredibly special. Wow,” Piazza said on a call with MLB Network.

“I sat here with my mouth on the floor,” he said.
