Phil Jackson On Kobe Retiring And Michael Jordan’s ’01 Un-Retiring

In 1998 after winning his sixth NBA championship – two threepeats with a minor run to baseball in between – Michael Jordan retired from the NBA. It was a perfect send off complete with MJ hitting the game winner in game 6 against the Utah Jazz.

But the urge is strong, and Jordan returned to the NBA in 2001 with the Washington Wizards. It was never the same feeling for fans.

New York Knicks exec Phil Jackson – who famously coached Jordan to those six titles – revealed Friday during media day, that he wishes Jordan didn’t come back for the second time in ’01.

Phil also stated that he doesn’t believe that this is Kobe’s last season playing. But it could be likely that it’s his last in a Lakers’ uniform.

I bet Phil is tired of answering questions about his former players. But better that than explaining what they’re plan is to make the Knicks contenders once again.
