Nuggets PG Ty Lawson To Enter Alcohol Rehab Program

Ty-Lawson

Denver Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson will spend the next 30 days at a famous LA rehabilitation center.

Early Tuesday morning, Lawson was arrested for a DUI following a pre-ESPYs party at LeJuin night club in Hollywood. This was Lawson’s second DUI arrest this year.
Friday morning Lawson appeared at a pretrial hearing in Denver for the first DUI arrest in January. His lawyer informed the court that Lawson would begin treatment Saturday at Cliffside Malibu. After his arrest in January, the judge ordered him to stay away from alcohol. Once he completes his stay at Cliffside, he’ll have to wear a blood-alcohol monitoring device.
Nuggets GM Tim Connelly said he talked to Lawson on Friday and told him the organization backs its point guard.

“Ty is going through a rough time right now, but we’re all behind him,” Connelly said after the Nuggets finished summer league play in Las Vegas. “Ty’s a really good person. He’s a Nugget, so when one of our guys goes through issues, we support him as a family and everyone stands behind him.”

The Nuggets are reportedly considering waiving the embattled point guard. His trade value is down now after a second DUI arrest in seven months. But should he be released several teams, including the Lakers, Rockets and Pistons are said to be interested for the right price.
