Mike D’Antoni Resigns As Lakers Head Coach

Mike-D'Antoni

After two turbulent seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, head coach Mike D’Antoni has resigned. D’Antoni walked into what on the surface appeared to be a dream job. But after a rash of injuries to Lakers players in both seasons, fans disappointed that he wasn’t Phil Jackson and public spats with players, D’Antoni decided enough was enough.

D’Antoni allegedly recently requested the Lakers pick up an additional option year on his contract. The former Suns and Knicks head coach took over for Mike Brown, who was fired five games into the 2012 season.

Things just won’t slow down in Los Angeles. Both Lakers and Clippers fans have something to cheer about this week.
