Carmelo Anthony calls Knicks the “laughingstock” of the NBA

The NBA doesn’t have the luxury of “flex games” like the NFL does. So, that means Thursday night on TNT the 3-13 New York Knicks will face off against the 5 – 13 Brooklyn Nets. In advance of that game, Carmelo Anthony has said that his Knicks are the “laughingstock” of the NBA.

“It’s on TNT? I didn’t know that,” Anthony said following Wednesday’s practice. “I didn’t know that. That’s fine. I don’t care about that. We are the laughingstock of the league right now. It’s nothing to hide. We are.

“So that’s why it is a big game for us. Do I like being laughed out? Hell no. I don’t like that feeling. But it about TNT and them guys mocking us…they got to do their jobs and we’ve got to win. That’s the only thing I’m focused on.”

The Nets have also had a bit of coaching drama as of late, with head coach Jason Kidd being fined for purposely spilling water on the court to stop play. And then most recently, the demotion of his top assistant, Lawrence Frank.
