LeBron-2013-NBA-MVP

LeBron James is said to be considering becoming the next president of the NBA’s player’s union. Veteran Thunder point guard Derek Fisher is the current president but his term is ending this summer. Fisher is being sued by ex-NBPA Director, Billy Hunter stemming from various allegations that began to pop up during the 2011 NBA lockout. LeBron was said to be very active during during union meetings last February.

NBPA meetings are scheduled to take place this month in Las Vegas where a new president will be elected.

“It’s something he has talked about with a small group of people,” a source with close ties to James told FOXSports.com on Wednesday. “He was very vocal at the meeting during the All-Star Weekend about the need for the union to dramatically change. There is a new executive director coming in and new commissioner. He recognizes that this is the time for the union to change.”

There hasn’t been a Union president in his prime since Patrick Ewing held the position from 1997- 2001.
