Bulls Joakim Noah told to change his outfit by the NBA [photo]

It’s been awhile since we’ve heard of an NBA player being in violation of the league’s dress code policy. The dress code came into existence during the 05-06 season right after the height of the “bling era” when 5 XL long t-shirts, throwback jerseys and baggy Red Monkey jeans plus ice were all the rage. Bulls big man Joakim Noah was out for his third straight game with plantar fasciitis. His attire to sit on the sideline was a hooded cardigan, white v neck t-shirt and skinny jeans. Apparently that didn’t make the cut. Noah was escorted from the bench in the second quarter.

After the Bulls’ 111-101 defeat, Noah said wasn’t quite sure what the league was upset about regarding his wardrobe. ‘I don’t even know really,’ Noah said. ‘They told me I wasn’t dressed appropriately so I changed.’ During the game Noah was taking taunts from fans in stride including one fan who barked out, ‘Hey Noah, nice skinny jeans!’ Noah responded by giving the fan a thumbs up. Noah admitted that it was the first time in a while he was dressed in that kind of attire. ‘That’s not really my style,’ he said.”

The dress code basically states that players should be in business casual attire while arriving and departing during a scheduled game, on the bench while injured, and when conducting official NBA business (press interviews, charity events, etc.)
