Kings suspend center DeMarcus Cousins indefinitely

Troubled Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins has been suspended “indefinitely for unprofessional behavior and conduct detrimental to the team.” The suspension comes following the Kings game against the Clippers on Friday night when Cousins and head coach Keith Smart got into it and Smart made the decision to have Cousins sit out the second half of the loss.

Last night, Cousins didn’t believe the incident would impact him beyond last night.

“It happens all the time between players and coaches,” Cousins said. “I believe we’ll talk about it, get past it and we’ll move forward.”

Clearly the Kings brass felt differently. Cousins was suspended this season for confronting Spurs analyst Sean Elliot and most recently had a tiff wit Mavs guard OJ Mayo who went on to say Cousins’ has “issues.”

There were also several incidents in the past where the center’s maturity level was called into question.

Cousins is worth more than the coach…. I’d fire Keith Smart before suspending the best player on the team….

  • StilettoJill

Keith Smart has been on his side. They already got rid of one coach behind him. At some point he has to grow up. That thought has been echoed by many. People get tired of BS

  • fran

Tony, that is precisely the attitude the players use when they wimp out and want a change of coaches because they don’t like playing for them, but they don’t hesitate to take their paycheck for their lousy attitude and play.

DeMarcus Cousins is the JaMarcus Russell of the NBA

Drama is for the theater. I don’t want it on the court. People want to see a game not a crummy reality show. There are going to be moments where it’s stupid out there on the court. The ball is going to hit you in the wrong way. A cheep shot that threw the game. I don’t want to see a discussion about it every time it happens. That is what the refs are there for.

Amen, Ms. Jill. Even when he’s not on the court ( parties, special events etc.) he’s immature. Even he’s conversation is immature.

  • StilettoJill

oh a keyboard gangster with no real reference. Sir, I have a great command of the english language and writing. I see you’re still here after your alleged problem so who does that say more about?

  • M

ok……sorry at work so here is my reply- wouldn’t it be “requests” protective order rather than request? and “poured” bleach rather than pured?

  • M

If multiple people requested a protective order I could see the use of request rather than requests but in the headline I interpreted the writing as a singular person was requesting the protective order

  • StilettoJill

it absolutely should’ve been poured a typo. Improper tense third person singular. I’m familiar. That made it painful. I can accept I omitted two letters. But you acting as if I butchered it. Nope sure can’t.

Many of these professional athletes have so much talent and skill but unfortunately have an ego that comes with it. Selfish in my book that they believe it’s all about “Me” when it comes to athletes. What about giving ME more money? What about ME – I’m better then that player! These players believe they are entitled to be in professional sports but forget it is a HUGE priviledge – What other non-sport job pays them as well as they get paid? They forget that very quickly and need to think about what they would do or job they would have if they messed up this opportunity. Sorry Mr. Cousins but you have had this childish attitude for quite some time and it’s time for a “time out”.
