Jets CB Antonio Cromartie says he’s the teams second best receiver

The Jets are always in the headlines especially when it comes to off the field commentary. Jets CB Antonio Cromartie got the party started Tuesday during an appearance on ESPN’s First Take by stating that he is the team’s second best wide receiver.

“I think I’d put myself as second,” Cromartie said, “I haven’t really played it in the past four or five years, but I can put myself as the second just with raw ability and talent going out there, I think, me separating and being a more physical guy out there on the outside.”

Not sure who the wideouts are for the J-E-T-S?  The number one slot obviously goes to Santonio Holmes, with the rest of the rotation filled with Jeremy Kerley, Stephen Hill, and Chaz Schilens.

Cro went on to give his opinion on the other guys and where they are compared to his skill set.

Kerley is a more of a slot receiver, he’s a slot guy,” Cromartie said. “Stephen Hill is a younger guy that can get down the field. I think, for me, I can run every single route in the route tree. I’m not going to take anything away from my ability, so when you ask me that question, I’m going to say, yes, I believe I’m one of the best receivers on the football team, next to Santonio Holmes.”

Interesting. How much of a locker room disruption will these statement cause? Or do you think the other receivers are cool with this and not tripping?

The Jets are planning to involve Cromartie in the offense so it’s likely he’ll have the opportunity to put his money where his mouth is.
