Jason Kidd agrees to a multi-year deal with the NY Knicks

The Lakers get Steve Nash and the Knicks end up securing a multi-year deal with Jason Kidd. Kidd has decided to leave the Dallas Mavericks – that drafted him and where he finally won an NBA ring – and join the Knicks. The deal he was close to signing with the Mavericks was allegedly for 3-years-$12 million.

The Mavericks also lost guard Jason Terry to the Celtics and in a bit of irony, the trade exemption that they received when they sent Tyson Chandler to the Knicks last year is the same exemption they sent to LA to get Lamar Odom and was ultimately used by the Lakers to sign Steve Nash. The Mavs have gone from top tier in the west to fighting for the bottom all in one short free agency period. July 11th is the official day that free agents can sign with teams.
