10 1/2 years of marriage sounds crazy long in the current climate of today’s nuptials. Kobe Bryant and Vanessa Laine-Bryant had a whirlwind relationship that was rocked with controversy early on. Vanessa has filed for divorce citing irreconcible differences.

Vanessa in high school. This image was like the shot heard around the world back in 2000. Vanessa’s huge engagement ring, nails and lip liner broke hearts everywhere.

June 2000- The first Lakers ring. These two were all over each other in the post game interviews.

And well, you know the rest…

The bright side would be that it appears the split is amicable. All the details have been worked out. In a joint statement issued, the couple announced the divorce and, of course asked people to respect their family through this process.

Hey Jill,

I’m still surprised, not shock about Vanessa and Kobe but 10 1.2 yrs was pretty good for them. With family,friends, fans etc. not thinking it would last they did a good job. And they are both at ages where we all change, it just part of life and having kids that’s a change in it’s self.

People have to also take into consideration that Vanessa was young and didn’t have the best childhood, what did ppl expect out of her? To go from being a ” Semi Video Vixen” to “Basketball Wife” and Kobe was a chap (kid) also. But I hope they can be parents first and let everything else fall where they may. So Jill I hope you and your fellow bloggers, reporters give the Bryant’s their respect.

The basics of the divorce are done. The details will come out and probably from people that are/were close to them. What do you mean by giving them their respect? You mean not report on any details? That NEVER happens. But I doubt the two of them are the type to trash each other in the press so it will continue to be what it has been for the last 10.5 years. Speculation for most.

Her childhood is irrelevant. She’s been in the lap of luxury for close to 12 years. At some point the responsibility is on YOU to move past those obstacles.

Yes that is exactly what I’m saying. AND HER CHILDHOOD did/has/should/ been some of her issues. Do you know if she’s dealt with them? Folks can have all the luxury in the world and what is your point about that? Girl you blog about these football, basketball players all the time and they do stupid ish everyday.

Sam Hurd, is a good example dude is going to do 40+yrs trying to live up to some bullish standard that his paycheck couldn’t. Probably came for a single parent home, now he probably feels like he has to take care of mama and dem(LOL) Girl, let get off here and stop taking u seriously. leave the Bryants the hell alone, blog about “sports” “stop giving Khole Whoredasian &Co. a platform, and stop the “Jill Huxtable attitude”

My point is that at some point you have to exceed your environment. I know it all plays a role but when you are in the position to do better, get help and learn how to make it better, you should. When you are exposed to more it can have a positive or negative outcome and that’s a choice everyone makes.

I am not dogging the Bryants but, to think that there will be no conversation about their marriage and it’s demise is nuts. I am always sensitive to the trials and tribulations and fair IMO. There’s hearsay and then there are facts. I’m very clear when using one or the other as an example. I am one of the more balanced bloggers in that area. However…

at this point I’ll say if you feel my views on “sports” and the surrounding culture aren’t to your interest level…

One more thing Ms. Huxtable, I’m watching this documentary about the first African American NFL football players called “Third and Long” how come you don’t post things like that? they have a website, you can also “like” them on Facebook and Twitter page. also do you get paid every time I reply to you? I think its time for kobe to have slutt parties and enjoy life.give his wife enough monie so she can bring her famley from mexico and guatumalla or something like that she can drive her big cars and keep her life style in witch shes entlited to because KOBE didnot protect his monie with a pre numpt.He left him self exposed and now he must pay the piper with half his shit.
