Former NBA player Javaris Crittenton Charged With Homicide in Atlanta

Former NBA player Javaris Crittenton’s NBA journey ended because of a 2009 incident between he and Gilbert Arenas when the two played for the Washington Wizards. If you recall, Gilbert was accused of bringing guns to the Wizards practice facility to settle a bet that took place on one of the charter flights.

Today, Crittenton is being accused of the drive-by  murder of Jullian Jones, a 22-year old mother of four in Atlanta.

Jones was walking with others near 2915 Macon Drive in southwest Atlanta around 10 p.m. Aug. 19 when she was shot, Campos said. She later died from her injuries.

Investigators do not believe Jones was the intended target. Crittenton may have been seeking retaliation after being robbed April 21, 2011, Campos said.

The 23-year old Crittenton was originally drafted in 2007 by the Lakers. The point guard spent time with the Grizzlies and Wizards as well as time overseas.  An arrest warrant has been issued, Crittenton is currently believed to be in the Los Angeles area. Atlanta authorities are hoping he’ll turn himself in.
